Yesterday we played a friendly match against Gloucester at Severn Vale School. The squad consisted of six U15 boys, 2 U17 girls and 2 U15 girls. Unfortunately, one of U17 girls was unable to attend due illness, so we hope she is soon well.

Three of the boys were making their debut; Charlie Johns, Harry Russell and Josh Pepper .Josh won his first county singles match and Harry his first doubles match with Josh. Charlie took a game in his singles match and won a doubles match with his partner Tom Reddaway.

Tom Garty played maturely and consistently to win his singles match in two straight games and Jemma Reddaway won both her singles matches against the two U17 girls in two games, as did the U15 girls, Ellie Slawin and Georgia Ley .

Rhys Coates and Tom Garty won one of their doubles matches and Tom went onto win his mixed match with Georgia Ley with some excellent mixed doubles play.

The girls managed to win all their doubles matches against the U15 Gloucester pair and Ellie and Jemma also won their match against the U17 pair.

A number of extra matches requested by the players were also played between the two teams.

The final result was 17 – 13 to Somerset with the Somerset players  continuing to show  much improvement in their play.

Next league match is against Wiltshire on the 14/4/13 and the weekend of the 20/21st we will be hosting Jersey in our last match of the season. Both matches being held at Westlands in Yeovil.
