Somerset Masters success
Somerset Masters entered lots of teams in last weekends Championships weekend. The teams were the O40s, the O50sA, the O50s B, the O55s and the O65 teams. Well done for all of the captains for their efforts in getting new teams and new players to play in these events around the country. It takes time and effort and paperwork to get to and through the weekend.
The O40s team won their division 2B with 4 wins and a draw over the 2 days. Thank goodness for the late starts each day and not having long gaps between matches. Congratulations to the captain Simon Ashenden and the team of Andrew Carpenter, Alistair McGuinn, Ian Pocock, Jason Flagg, Wendy Field, Fiona Rooke, Nikki Harriss and Sarah-Jane Trask. Good to see new faces in the 40s team. Division 1 for the 2018 Challenge weekend!
The O50s A team struggled with injury and unavailability in their Premier division in Worcester. (Awaiting info on their results)
The O50s B team had a great time in Bournemouth with the O55s. Captain Chris Naylor, Kevin Bottomley, Mark Hill, Paul Hodge, Lyn Bottomley, Janet Coates, Rosalyn Hodge and Jo Robson. (Awaiting info on their results)
The O55s were in Bournemouth. Captain Neil Robson, Sammy McCrory, Dave Malcolm, Trevor James, Tony Eyles, Rose Robertson, Jackie Malton, Val Fraser, Jane Lipton, Karen Potter. (Awaiting info on their results)
The O65s had a full on weekend in Andover starting the fun and laughter on Friday night. Captain Roy Allen, Richard Hardiman, Stuart Pilkington, Graham Bushell, John Sealey, Sylvia Sealey, Doreen Challoner and Eileen Rice had success on the Sunday with their first ladies doubles and match win over a Champs weekend for 2 seasons. Definitely the biggest cheer over the weekend. (Awaiting info on the final results)
