Kirtsie Allen from Yeovil once again became triple National Deaf Champion last week in York.

British Deaf Badminton Championships 14th March 2015 Held in York

The annual British Deaf Badminton Championships held in York was a competitive and enjoyable tournament. In the ladies single final Kirstie played new player Lisa Jones. Kirstie tried to play aggressively and use her knowledge and came out on top winning 21-7, 21-10.

Partnering Lisa in the doubles they had tough competition from previous medallists players competing, in a round-robin box, one match was taken to 3 ends but they worked well as a new pair and pulled out a final win.

Finally, Kirstie competed with regular mixed doubles partner, Dominic Caswell, as reigning champions they had a lot to prove, a shaky start from Kirtsie they managed to reach the final against Mike Burris and Nina Goulden  - a strong traditional pairing. Kirtsie and her partner played to their strengths and complimented each other finally achieving the win.

This made it a clean sweep for Kirtsie winning all 3 events,  Kirstie would like to say many thanks to James Elkin and Helen Manfield for all their support over the years and hopes to continue to compete in deaf competitions.
