At the Deafylympics currently being held in Sofia, Bulgaria, after 3 hard days of competing,  Kirstie Allen has played exceptionally well to finish group runner up in all 3 events, to qualify for the knockout rounds.

In ladies singles the current British Champion beat a girl from Turkey before losing to the 5th seed from China.  In ladies doubles, Kirstie and partner Lesley Holdsworth beat a pair from Hong Kong, and a pair from India, but lost to the top seeds from Russia. In mixed, the Yeovil girl, playing with Dominic Caswell, beat pairs from Ukraine and Turkey but lost 18-21, 11-21 to the number 7 seeds from Chinese Taipei.

In the knockout stages, Kirstie had a great singles win against a player from India before losing to the Korean 4th seed.  Mixed doubles was slightly disappointing, losing to an unseeded Bulgarian pair.  Ladies Doubles also ended in defeat, but a good performance with scores of 15-21, 17-21 against the 4th seeds from Japan.
