99th All England Seniors
Four players from Somerset travelled to Hatfield at the weekend to contest one of the oldest tournaments in the world - The All England Seniors Championships.
In the over 40's, Fiona Rooke played well in both singles and doubles (with a scratch partner) , but found the quality of the opposition too strong on this occasion.
In the over 50's, (yes i know its difficult to believe), Barry Harriss and James Elkin came up against National Champions and top seeds in their first match. Despite playing well, they got hammered! However the experience did them good, as they then beat the pair they recently lost to in the final of the Hampshire Open, followed by another win against a strong Swedish pair. The result saw them group runner up, but it wasnt enough to qualify for the Semi finals.
In the over 55's James Buckle was partnering a Swedish player. A great performance saw them beat the eventual winners, but an earlier loss meant they didnt qualify from their group.
