CoachesIf you're looking for a coach for one-to-one or group work then most of the coaches on the list for coaching Juniors will also coach adults. Coaching QualificationsHave you ever considered badminton coaching as a way to enrich your own and other people's lives, as an additional source of income or even as a career? Badminton England organises hundreds of coach education courses every year. For generic course info see the UKCC Level 1 and/or UKCC Level 2 downloads. The Badminton England website also has details, or you can check our own Current Courses page for courses within Somerset. You can contact the County Development Officer to register your interest and/or download the application form for the revised Level 1 Course (updated 9th May). TeachersThere is also a Coaching for Teachers course intended for teachers, AOTTs, PGCE students etc. The course assumes some experience of delivering in a school environment, and a knowledge of the National Curriculum will be required as the intention is to link the content in to this. However, should a teacher who has taken this course wish to deliver within a club environment, there should be no problem with this as long as they work within the syllabus covered. News of these courses usually goes out through schools but delivery is through Badminton England and your BDO (see contacts page) will be able to find details for you. Evening ClassesFor adults wanting to take up badminton, or start again after a long gap, the traditional avenue is to join an evening class. These are much less common than they used to be and places are usually limited. "Recreational Badminton" is an organised session without a coach.
